Requirements for transport of perishable foodstuffs

TSU organized meeting for producers of transport equipment, forwarders and dealers of perishable foodstuffs to inform them about new legislation regarding the transport of perishable foodstuffs.
Technický skúšobný ústav Piešťany in co-operation with Association of road transport of the Slovak Republic (ČESMAD) and Association of automotive of the Slovak Republic (ZAP) prepared the meeting for producers of transport equipment, forwarders and dealers of perishable foodstuffs. The objective was to inform the participants about last international and national legislative measures (ATP Agreement, Codex Alimentarius...), with practical experiences in check-out performance of safety and sanitation of perishable foodstuffs, with certification and testing of transport equipment used for transport of perishable foodstuffs.

The meeting took place on 18th June 2009 in TSU premises. The participants got new information from the last meeting of EC-TRANS-WP11 by OSN - working group in the field of transport of perishable foodstuffs within the scope of ATP Agreement - and from IIR CERTE meeting.

Next issues to discuss were the issues of sanitation and health safety of transported foodstuffs and metrological assurance by the transport of foodstuffs, i.e. fulfilment of requirements for permanent monitoring of temperature of the foodstuffs in whole chain from the production through distribution and storage to the sale. The attention was paid also to the foodstuffs that require special transport conditions, as frozen and deep frozen foodstuffs.

This meeting helped to inform those who take part on the transport of perishable foodstuffs - producers of transport equipment, insulated boxes and bodies of transport equipment or producers and dealers of foodstuffs.
